by Andrew Steele, CPOIn keeping with the spirit of innovation at Clark and Associates, we are excited to announce that Clark and Associates will be hosting a McKeever’s First Ride event for our patients on Saturday afternoon, May 22, 2010. McKeever’s First Ride is a therapeutic horsemanship program, aimed at introducing amputees and those with physical challenges to the beneficial effects of working with a horse. The event will be held at ASPIRE Therapeutic Riding Center, a nationally recognized premier barn, located at 8100 Kimball Avenue, just south of Waterloo.
McKeever’s First Ride will feature demonstrations of adaptive riding by amputees, and will introduce participants to ground work and grooming opportunities with horses, and for those interested and able the opportunity to ride a horse! ASPIRE will be leading the afternoon’s activities. Their instructors, trainers and volunteers will supervise activities that showcase the physical and psychological benefits of working with horses. Miss Deenie McKeever, founder of McKeever’s First Ride, will be joining us for the day at ASPIRE and serving as our Mistress of Ceremonies! Arts, crafts and refreshments will also be available.
There is NO CHARGE for McKeever’s First Ride, but pre-registration and physician approval is required prior to the event so that we can prescreen your needs. Only physically challenged participants less than 180 lbs will be allowed to ride at McKeever’s First Ride.
